SINGAPORE: An assistant nurse at a clinic was fined $3,000 on Tuesday for deceiving patients into paying double the consultation fee.
Oh Hui Min, 24, who was tasked with collecting payments from patients, pleaded guilty to two charges of cheating.
She committed the offences with another colleague at Chee Ear Nose Throat Surgery at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre in November last year.
Oh and Norashikin Omar, 29, overcharged three patients between $100 and $311 after amending their invoices.
Both later split the money between them, and this came up to nearly $800 in total.
In mitigation, Oh said she was influenced by Norashikin, who has yet to be dealt with.
Oh has not made any restitution.
For the offence she could have been jailed up to three years and fined.
