<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I BOARDED SBS Transit service 166 (SBS9153J) at the Ang Mo Kio Interchange at about 1pm on Sunday. I sat on the upper deck.
Though I was headed for Telok Blangah, I switched to another bus when I got to the City Hall MRT station because the ride was downright uncomfortable. This was because the inside of the bus was hot and humid. There was hardly any air coming out of the vents.
All too often, I have boarded an "air-conditioned" bus, paid the "air-conditioned" fare, then suffered throughout the journey because the air-conditioner was not working. And the problem is prevalent in SBS buses. It rarely occurs in SMRT buses and almost never in (the former) Tibs buses.
Why doesn't SBS make bus drivers responsible for the air-conditioning in buses? They should ensure that the system is functioning before hitting the road. If it is faulty, then the bus should be pulled out of service until the problem is rectified.
If a commuter pays the "air-conditioned" fare, he should get a cool, comfortable ride. Otherwise, he is being conned.
