The Ang Mo Kio—Yio Chu Kang Community Carers’ Scheme organises group social activities in Kebun Baru and Teck Ghee, as well as home monitoring and individualised care for some 200 elderly residents across the constituency. Many of the elderly residents live on their own and are socially isolated, with little or no social support. Some also have difficulty moving around due to their frail physical health. The programme aims to expand its group social activities to other divisions and to reach out to more individuals who need care. It is also seeking to recruit and train volunteers, who live in the Ang Mo Kio constituency, to care for the elderly residents.
