@glockman or whoever bicycle experts...

Can advise what kind of bicycle brake system is this?

How to do maintenance for this type of brakes?

It's a bit loose, as in must press my brakes very hard to brake this back wheel brake. How to tighten this brake?

I never see this kind of brake disc before.
Is your bicycle expensive ?

I call it a drum brake, but others call it liner brake. You need to loosen the nut that's clamping on the brake cable, then pull the brake cable back about 1cm or so. Then tighten the nut. Here's a video I specially made for you.:biggrin:

The brake lining has worn out. You can try to loosen the crimping nut, pull and extend the steel cable and then tighten the crimping nut again. However, in most cases, it won't do much help because the brake lining is too worn out. The brake lining is also difficult to buy in most cases. If you go to a bicycle shop, they'll most likely ask you to convert to the conventional brake pad type, but the end result is usually no good.

Fwah you also know ah! Don't teach him too much, let him go drifting on his bicycle when the brake doesn't bite. :biggrin:

Ok...tomorrow I shall try this method to tighten this drum brake.

Seriously, you should change your bicycle lah. Frame rusty, hub and spokes rusty, bolts and nuts also rusty. OMG! :biggrin:
This is an old gift from someone who has departed, so i cannot throw away... I have my own trifold brompton which i use to do long distances ...but once in a while, I will take this old bike out for a ride just to keep the mechanism moving... but recently, I find the back wheel brakes like must press very hard...I think something is loose... :(

So it has sentimental value. You should restore it, change out the rusty bits or at least polish the rust out. Lubricate the moving parts too. Glad you have a brompton, its Sturmey-Archer internal gear hub is smooth and hardy.

lol b4 u adjust d cable, u can adjust d free play by adjusting the nut u see at d uder end of the spring. there shud usually be enuf to allow for wear on the brake pad.
