SIBU: A 25-year-old maid is claiming that she was made a sex slave by her police officer employer for the past six years - but the man has countered by saying that they had had an affair. The woman's father claimed she had lodged a police report last year but it was covered up because her attacker was an assistant superintendant. However, Sarawak police chief deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Salleh said the woman only lodged a report on May 3 in Kapit and that his men were already investigating the case.
DCP Mohd said initial police investigations showed there was no rape as the woman and the senior officer were having an affair. "As a result of the affair, the woman got pregnant and gave birth. "Since her father lodged another report in Sibu on Saturday we will re-investigate and have classified the case as rape for investigation purposes," he said adding that police started their investigations following a report lodged by the woman with the Kapit police on May 3.
DCP Mohd also claimed that the incident happened two years ago and police had to find out why it took the complainant that long to lodge the report. He said the officer was being quizzed by both the investigating officer as well as the disciplinary division. He assured the woman and her family that investigations would be transparent, fair and thorough. He urged the family and those helping the family not to politicise the matter and to allow police to investigate without any distractions.
She claimed she had also given birth to a baby girl in January and had not seen the baby since her discharge from a private hospital as she was forcefully taken away by a woman. At a press conference held at PKR Lanang Division Centre in Sibu, the victim's 48-year-old father said they wanted to expose this incident in order to seek justice. He said they had travelled from his longhouse in Kapit to lodge the report here.
The woman started working with the police officer in 2004 and stayed with the employer at the police quarters. She claimed the man raped her from the start of her employment but she did not tell anyone, including her own parents, because he had threatened her. She claimed she was later sent to stay with the policeman's parents here in October and underwent a Caesarian section in January this year.
