SELAMA - A Royal Malaysian Army personnel, who went missing during a parachuting exercise in Kubu Gajah here on Monday, has been found dead.
State police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said Corporal Supain Gane's body was discovered about 4.30pm behind the Kubu Gajah Kampung Tersusun residential areas by the search team.
It could not be immediately ascertained if Supain's parachute had failed to function properly, which led to his death.
"Other details of the case are still pending investigations," Shukri added.
Supain, 27, was part of 24 personnel who took part in the first series of the ex-Tiger Warrior exercise on Monday.
The group had taken off from the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Subang.
However, only 23 of them succesfully landed on the same day while Supian could not be accounted for.
Police was subsequently informed by Supian's superior of the incident the following afternoon and a search team was formed, comprising the Army, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Department, Rela and nearby villagers.
