Armed robbers slash victims during break-in
IPOH: A father and his son were badly injured after they were assaulted by three parang-wielding robbers during a break-in at their home in Kampung Matang Acheh, Pantai Remis, about 100km from here. Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Jamil Osman said both Che Omar Ahmad, 58, and his 25-year-old son Saiful sustained multiple slash wounds during the 4.30am incident yesterday.
“Che Omar was hit and slashed on the head and leg.” “Saiful sustained several slash wounds to his body,” ACP Mohd Jamil said yesterday, adding that both victims have been admitted to the Seri Manjung Hospital. ACP Mohd Jamil said the three masked suspects, believed to be foreigners, used a steel-cutter to break in through a kitchen window. “One of the suspects then opened the front door to let his accomplices in,” he said.
Che Omar, Saiful and six other family members were asleep at the time of the incident. “Saiful was awakened by the noise and got into a skirmish with the suspects before being overpowered,” said ACP Mohd Jamil. “Che Omar went to the living room to check and was subsequently assaulted,” he said, adding that the three suspects only managed to take away four mobile phones during the break-in. He added that police are on the hunt for the three suspects.
