alex: your comments on high medical costs - In the PM's National Day Rally this year, he has emphasized the importance of a keeping a healthy lifestyle, continue exercising and not smoking. This is a long term solution. The 3Ms and means testing are also in place to help everyone, especially lower-income families to pay off hefty medical bills. Other than the 3Ms and means testing, there is a whole list of other health policies and schemes available for everyone.
Do you prefer to spoon feed your people? Welfare State is an easy way out. In the long run, the people will only become more dependant on the Government. They will complain too, if the Government decides one day that they cannot afford to pay the medical expenses of Singaporeans anymore. We got a Country to run. We need to save for a rainy day. It is not like your daily allowance of $10 for school, where you can afford to spend $9 and save $1. So, you also expecting subsidy for other expenses such as transport and food?
