Old Man is right. He did not want taxi driving to become too comfortable. Probably paid shocking taxi fares while in Brit Shit land. So he formed the Comfort mafia to control the SG taxi industry. A form of modern feudal system. Driver serfs make just enough, most earnings go to the Comfort Lord.
