POLICE are looking for the man shown in the picture to assist with investigations into a series of flat rental scams reported at Blk 123 Rivervale Drive.

Since November 2010, at least three cases of flat rental scams have been reported at Blk 123 Rivervale Drive. In all the cases, victims had responded to flat rental advertisements placed in the newspapers sometime in mid-October 2010.

The suspect would arrange with victims to view the unit and collect money ranging between $2700 and $8000 from them as deposit and advance rental for the unit.

After collecting the money, the suspect would then become evasive and remain uncontactable.

OFFICERS from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested a 41-year-old man on Thursday in connection with at least five cases of rental scams.

The suspect surrendered after the police issued an appeal for information through the media, seeking the whereabouts of Dennis Ang Beng Kiat to assist with investigations into at least three cases of flat rental scams reported at Blk 123 Rivervale Drive.

The suspect, who owns the flat, had arranged with the victims to view the unit and thereafter collected deposits and rental advances.

But after receiving the money, he became evasive and was uncontactable.

The police said the suspect was believed to have been persuaded by a friend, among others he knew, who saw the appeal to give himself up.

Preliminary investigations indicate that besides the three cases committed at Rivervale Drive, the suspect is believed to be responsible for two other similar cases at Indus Road and Tampines.
