Retailers near APEC Summit venue report dip in sales of up to 60%
SINGAPORE: Some retailers and food outlets close to the APEC summit venue are reporting slow business.
Roads near the Suntec area were unusually clear for a Sunday afternoon, despite road and lane closures not starting until Tuesday.
Some shops and restaurants have reported a dip in sales of up to 60 per cent compared to normal weekends.
The organising committee said latest updates on road and lane closures will be broadcast on the radio and Internet, while EMAS and advisory signages will be put up on affected roads.
The carpark nearest to the Convention Centre with a capacity for some 500 cars has been reserved for APEC delegates, while all other carparks at Suntec City will remain open to public throughout APEC Singapore 2009.
