【08:27】港鐵回應指，今早清晨約5點，港鐵東鐵線太和站附近架空電纜被外來的金屬物撃中，引致供電故障，東鐵線列車服務一度受阻。大埔墟至粉嶺站列車暫停服務，羅湖站開出頭班車時間受影響延誤2分鐘。紅磡站至大埔墟站及粉嶺站至羅湖站需以每10分鐘一班列車行駛，上水站至落馬洲站需以每15分鐘一班列車行駛。港鐵安排接駁巴士服務。港鐵職員約6時15分將影響架空電纜的金屬外物移除，電力供應恢復，列車服務回復正常。事件中，涉及之外來物長約17米，初步懷疑有人從受影響電纜上方的行人天橋擲下，港鐵已報警處理，警方現正就事件作出調查。
【07:52】港鐵職員在維修期間，發現路軌上有多個鐵欄，並且壓向電纜，於是通知警方跟進。警方調查後，發現附近行人天橋有一列長約17米的鐵欄遭蓄意破壞，並且砸落路軌，於是將案件列作刑事毀壞案處理，正追緝狂徒下落，以及調查犯案動機。

今晨5時48分，港鐵宣布，由於太和站附近架空電纜受外物影響，東鐵綫列車服務受阻。現時紅磡站至大埔墟站每10分鐘一班，大埔墟站至粉嶺站暫停服務，粉嶺站至羅湖站每10分鐘一班。港鐵將會提供接駁巴士。

[08:27] The MTR responded that at about 5 am this morning, the overhead cable near the Taihe Station of the MTR East Rail Line was smashed by foreign metal objects, causing power failure and the East Rail train service was once blocked. The train service from Tai Po Market to Fanling Station was temporarily suspended. The departure time of the Lo Wu Station was delayed by 2 minutes. From Hung Hom Station to Tai Po Market Station and Fanling Station to Lo Wu Station, it is required to operate every 10 minutes. From Sheung Shui Station to Lok Ma Chau Station, it should be operated every 15 minutes. The MTR has arranged a shuttle bus service. At about 6:15, the MTR staff will remove the metal foreign objects that affect the overhead cable, the power supply will resume, and the train service will return to normal. In the incident, the foreign object involved was about 17 meters long. It was initially suspected that someone had thrown it from the footbridge above the affected cable. The MTR had already handled the incident and the police were investigating the incident.
[07:52] During the maintenance period, the MTR staff found that there were multiple iron bars on the track and pressed the cable, so the police were advised to follow up. After investigations by the police, it was found that a nearby pedestrian bridge with a length of about 17 meters was deliberately destroyed and degraded. The case was classified as a criminal case, and the whereabouts of the madman were investigated.
