About 2,000 Malaysians from all walks of life staged a peaceful protest march in downtown Kuala Lumpur last night calling for the abolishment of the Internal Security Act (ISA).
The march was initially called by HINDRAF, but it was soon joined by many lantern-carrying youths from a coaliton of NGOs.
It is an eye-opener to see participants from various races, especially the young, walking together amidst a festive atmosphere in solidarity of those arrested under the ISA.
In Singapore, a similar vigil walk along Orchard Road held by Burmese nationals last year in protest of the babaric acts of the military junta in Myanmar was stopped by the police. Six Burmese who took part in the march were denied renewal of their permanent residency this year.
The peaceful and serene nature of the walk depicted by the video above debunks the official myth propagated by the PAP government that “outdoor protests” are banned due to “prospensity for breakdown of law and order”.
Freedom of speech, expression and association is a fundamental liberty enshrined in our Constitution Part IV Section 14. It is illegal for the PAP to continue to prevent us from exercising our rights as citizens.
Under the pretext of maintaining law and order, the PAP has been employing draconian laws to stifle any form of dissent or threat to its rule.
When a thousand people march in the street to protest against the government, those in power will have no choice but to sit up and listen to our concerns.
Will Singaporeans ever realize that they are citizens and not sheep to be herded around by the PAP ? Only slaves have no voice. Do you want to continue to be slaves well-fed by the PAP which is even much more better “fed” at your expense ?
While the Malaysian youths are protesting against the ISA, Singaporeans continue to be encaptivated by the F1 racing. The contrast cannot be greater:
