<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A FORMER police officer who allegedly accepted two bribes from a gambling operator was charged in court on Wednesday.
Former staff sergeant Lim Kay Heng, 37, is accused of accepting a $2,000 bribe from Mr Chua Chin Hoe in return for helping him in police-related matters as and when necessary.
The alleged offence took place at a coffeeshop at Lorong 27A, Geylang in December 2005.
He is also said to have accepted a bribe in the form of entertainment from Mr Chua at Chuang Shi Ji KTV opposite Apollo Hotel in April the following year.
Lim was an investigation officer and a detective with the Criminal Investigation Department's Secret Societies Branch. He quit in February 2007.
He will return to court on Nov 5 for a pre-trial conference.
If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years on each charge.
