<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A 61-YEAR-OLD man fell onto the MRT tracks at the Dover station on Sunday morning after suffering a dizzy spell but he was pulled to safety by SMRT staff after commuters raised the alarm.
The station staff managed to stop the trains in time and services were disrupted for about 10 minutes.
An SMRT spokesman said commuters activated emergency communication buttons as well as the emergency-stop plunger at Dover station at about 9.40am. Both the east- and west-bound trains were stopped.
The staff at Dover station helped the conscious but slightly injured man from the tracks.
Retiree Muhammad Osmail Paiman, who lives near the train station, was on his way to visit a friend in Clementi, his youngest of three daughters told The Straits Times yesterday.
Miss Esli Afiqah Muhammad Osmail, 21, said her father told her that he felt giddy and had stumbled off the platform. She said her father has no known health problems.
'I'm puzzled too. I can't picture him falling off the platform,' Miss Esli Afiqah, who works at a cafe, said.
Apart from some cuts to his head, Mr Muhammad Osmail is doing well but is warded at the National University Hospital for a day for observation.
