【星島日報報道】美國聯合航空公司一架波音737-900客機，在降落美國德州休斯敦喬治布殊洲際機場時，其中一個引擎突然起火並傳出爆炸聲，緊急着陸後乘客須緊急疏散，有人受輕傷。當局正調查事件。
出事的客機航班編號為UA1168，當時載有174名乘客及6名機組人員，由新澤西州紐瓦克飛往休斯敦。有乘客表示，事發在當地時間晚上約10時半，當時客機左方一個引擎突然傳出巨響，飛機其後開始發生猛烈震動，窗外出現閃光，乘客均感到不適及驚慌。客機降落後，機長隨即疏散乘客，利用緊急逃生滑梯離開，部分人在停機坪等逾個半小時，再由接駁巴接回客運大樓。大批消防員趕至現場灌救。

[Sing Tao Daily reported] A Boeing 737-900 aircraft of United Airlines, when landing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, one of the engines suddenly caught fire and exploded. After the emergency landing, passengers were evacuated and some people were affected. Minor injuries. The authorities are investigating the incident.
The passenger plane flight number was UA1168, which contained 174 passengers and 6 crew members, flying from Newark, New Jersey to Houston. Some passengers said that the incident occurred at about 10:30 pm local time. At that time, an engine suddenly sounded loudly on the left side of the passenger plane. The aircraft began to vibrate and there was a flash outside the window. The passengers felt uncomfortable and panicked. After the passenger plane landed, the captain evacuated the passengers and left with an emergency escape slide. Some people waited for more than an hour and a half on the apron, and then the shuttle bus was taken back to the passenger terminal building. A large number of firefighters rushed to the scene to rush.
A joint aviation spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying that one of the engines of the passenger plane had problems before the landing of the passenger plane, and some people were slightly injured when evacuated. A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration said that the cause of the engine fire was temporarily unknown and a detailed inspection will be carried out.

HOUSTON, Tex. — A United Airlines flight that left from Newark airport Sunday night landed safely in Houston after the plane’s engine caught on fire, according to local media.
The UA flight #1168 department from Newark Liberty International Airport at 7:27 p.m.
A United spokesperson tells PIX11 the plane experienced “an issue with one of the engines,” shortly before the plane was scheduled to land at 10:25 p.m. George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
Passengers on the flight told ABC13 in Houston that they heard a loud bang and flash of light out of the window.
According to United’s flight tracker, the plane landed at 10:32 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

It is unknown what caused the incident at this time.
The emergency came the same day an Ethiopian Airlines' Boeing 737 Max 8 crashed , killing 157 people. The 737 Max 8 is a newer model that's part of a fleet meant to replace the 737-900 and other Boeing aircraft. Another plane of the same model crashed last October in Indonesia, killing 189.
Boeing announced on Monday it would delay the launch of its new 777X jetliner.
