Decomposed body found in Newton
Lianhe Wanbao - 55 mins ago
A dead body was found in a terrace house in the Newton area yesterday.
The deceased is Henry Ng, 65, an employee of the Public Utilities Board (PUB).
The man's body was found decomposed and lying in a pool of "corpse-fluids" on his bed. It is believed that he has been dead for some time.
Neighbours say that lights were still seen from Ng's unit last week. An old woman who stays at the unit directly below Ng said she detected a stench two days ago, and thought it was garbage.
"The stench got worse yesterday morning, I couldn't bear it so I called the police", she said.
The old woman also showed reporters a crack on her ceiling that leads to the unit upstairs. Reddish water was seeping through the cracks and dripping onto the old woman's bed. The "corpse-water" has already soaked a large patch on her mattress and was producing a strong stench.
The old woman was trying to dry the mattress with a fan, but the stench persisted. The woman said she intends to dump the mattress, then clean and sterilise the room before she moves back in.
The police have classified the case as an "unnatural death" and are investigating.
