Another 39 holidaymakers aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship have been diagnosed with coronavirus, including a 21-year-old Melbourne woman, her family says.
She would be the 12th known Australian to be diagnosed on the cruise, docked off Yokohama in Japan for quarantining, though authorities are yet to confirm her case.
"The Department of Health is aware of these reports and is seeking confirmation," a spokeswoman said.
The nationalities of the other 38 people have not yet been confirmed.
"We are following guidance from the Japan Ministry of Health on plans for disembarkation protocols to provide medical care for these new cases," Princess Cruises said in a statement.
“ The Japan Ministry of Health has been the lead public health authority defining the testing protocols for all guests and crew on Diamond Princess. Questions on the timeline, test results and reporting protocols should be directed to them."
