Surely, such drivers, some of whom do this even after 8pm, cannot be doing so to save their car's battery. Could it be that they feel the roads are so well lit that they don't need to put on their own lights? Might they be driving under the mistaken assumption that the lights are on?
Whatever the reason, it is a deplorable trend that we can well do without.
