On April 10, an American media published an article titled "Exposing: China's Air-launched Ballistic Missiles that Can Bring Nuclear Warheads." The article quoted the "U.S. government sources," saying that China has conducted a total of five flight tests on an "already unknown" air-blast ballistic missile (ALBM) that may be based on Dongfeng 21. Although there is no domestic news source at present, but the reference to the “precise exposure” of the Dongfeng-21D by the US media more than a decade ago, this news may not be groundless. In this issue of "Sheath" we come to talk about those things behind the air-launched ballistic missiles. (See the full content search WeChat public number: sinamilnews)

The air-launched ballistic missiles exposed by the U.S. media were numbered CH-AS-X-13 according to the "US intelligence agency" custom. It is carried by a "new H-6k" bomber that can be refueled in the air. US intelligence agencies believe that the bomber's serial number is H-6X1 or H-6N, which was developed specifically for launching air-based ballistic missiles. The missile was tested for the first time in December 2016 and the last test was conducted in the last week of January 2018. The US Secretary of Defense Intelligence also mentioned this type of missile in the recent "Global Threat Assessment".

In fact, air-launched ballistic missiles are not a new concept in themselves. In 1957, the Soviet Union developed its first generation of intercontinental ballistic missile R-7. Its 6,000-kilometer test range has been able to cover the whole of Europe and the United States of Alaska from its Plesetsk launch site. However, intelligence shows that the actual range of the missile can reach 8,000 kilometers, which means that its range can cover most of the United States, including New York, Washington, including the territory. However, when the R-7 missile was formally commissioned in 1959, the United States’ intercontinental missile project still did not show much improvement. The Soviet nuclear deterrence could only be accomplished through bomber units.

Under this premise, at that time, the United States opened the GAM-87 sky-light project in order to enable bombers to conduct nuclear strikes outside the Soviet Union's air defense zone. The SkyScatter missile is a two-stage solid missile equipped with a 1000-kiloton W59 hydrogen bomb warhead with a range of 1,150 miles (1850 kilometers) and a high altitude of more than 300 miles (482 kilometers). In 1960, the United Kingdom joined the project and announced that it would purchase 144 Tian-Shao missiles and launch them from the Vulcan Bomber. However, the British are only involved in the part of the Vulcan Bomber that can carry Sky-Sky.

PLA says, it is up to us to nuke USA using our new Aircraft Launched ICBM which no one else have now, and this cause US anti-ICBM defense network to unable to give any advance warning of such new type of attack, and hence no interception to against it.

AmdA-fyzeyqc4584095.jpg

H-6R carrying air-launched ballistic missile

China’s strategic strike capability has always been the focus of Western media and military observers. A new type of missile, which was called "CH-AS-X-13" by the US intelligence agency, was launched for the first time in December 2016 and was followed by four test shots. The most recent one was in January this year. the last week. According to an exclusive article issued on the 10th by the US "Foreign Scholars" website, China is developing a type of "air-launched ballistic missile capable of delivering nuclear warheads" and speculates that the missile is based on the "Dongfeng-21" medium-range ballistic missile research and development. According to judgments, China has developed a type of air-launched ballistic missile carrier based on the H-6 bomber, known as H-6X1 or H-6N, and has the ability to refuel in air, which can threaten all US territory including Hawaii and Alaska. .

H-6K using Long Sword-20 can't deter the United States

In the "trinity" strategic strike force that prevails in the world's major military powers, land-based and sea-based platforms generally use strategic ballistic missiles, while aerial platforms use mainly strategic cruise missiles. For example, the United States is mainly a "militia-3" land force. Intercontinental ballistic missiles, Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missiles and AGM-129 strategic air-launched cruise missiles; while Russia is mainly SS-27 "Poplar-M" ground-based ballistic missiles, SS-N-23 "canoe" potential. Shooting ballistic missiles and Kh-555 strategic cruise missiles, in China, are Dongfeng-5B land-based strategic ballistic missiles, JL-2A submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and Longsword-20 strategic cruise missiles.

Previously photographed H-6N blurred picture

It can be said that no country has considered using strategic bombers to launch ballistic missiles, but now China has such a new thinking. To this end, China has specifically developed the new H-6N bombers. According to the analysis, the H-6N is based on the H-6K and is equipped with an air refueling device to achieve the maximum range. It is said that a combat radius of 6,000 kilometers can be achieved. Based on this calculation, the H-6N can fly to the east of the international date line--occupying 180° East/West longitude to occupy the launch position. Then by launching the launch of the CH-AS-X-13 ballistic missile, it can target the attack on the west coast of the United States. And of Alaska, of course, Hawaii even goes without saying.

China's public display of air-launched launch vehicles

Here mainly talk about the CH-AS-X-13 ballistic missile. It is said that this is an air launch model developed on the basis of the Dongfeng-21 and will be mounted under the belly of the H-6N bomber. Bring one to make up for the shortness of the Chinese bomber's legs. Because the previous H-6K combat radius was only 3,500 kilometers, even with the 2500-kilometer long sword-20 cruise missile, it could only cover the target in the second island chain, and even Hawaii could not reach it. Therefore, the development of the H-6N new bombers and the CH-AS-X-13 air-launched ballistic missiles can temporarily provide China with an air strike platform to deter the United States before the H-18 and H-20. Most importantly, air-launched ballistic missiles can make enemy anti-missile systems unable to warn, and thus there is no opportunity for interception.

China is still struggling before the H-20 officially forms a fighting force

According to the analysis, the most critical thing is that according to the information obtained by the United States, China has conducted five air-launched tests of the CH-AS-X-13 ballistic missiles and succeeded for the second time. But this is not all, the US media said, "China is using two types of air-launched ballistic missiles to enhance long-range precision strike systems. One type may be able to carry nuclear warheads." In other words, China not only has the ability to use conventional air ballistic missiles to attack the United States, but also has the ability to use ballistic missiles with air-launched nuclear warheads to deter the United States. From December 2016 to January 2018, five trials were conducted in 13 months, which fully demonstrated that China’s development speed is not waiting to be met, and that the H-N+CH-AS-X-13 missile is maturing, or in the near future. Actual deployment. However, this may not be all of China’s ambitions. It is said that China is still actively developing a plan to use Yun-20 to launch long-range ballistic missiles. Such a plan would be even more powerful than the H-N+CH-AS-X-13 missile. . (Author's signature: Military Review Chen Guangwen)
