</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->IT IS incredible to see how budget airlines have ventured into routes that used to be dominated by established airlines, and by doing so, have opened up travel opportunities for a wider spectrum of society. This in turn has benefited tourism businesses in Singapore and Asean countries in particular.
I have travelled with Jetstar and Tiger Airways and have many good reasons to trust and use them in future. Recently, there have been complaints in The Straits Times and The Sunday Times about less than desirable services by budget airlines.
I feel that budget airlines have the means and resources to fix the problems, instead of ignoring them or giving pat answers in their well-crafted replies.
Instead of leaving it to the Consumers Association of Singapore to handle the issues, the Singapore Tourism Board should take the lead in resolving some of the complaints. In some cases, there is a need for government regulators or agencies to step in and provide new guidelines.
Positively speaking, budget travel is a rather new concept in this region and expectations of consumers should be moderated as well.
