Huawei’s New OS Hongmeng is 60 Times Faster Than Android
May 25, 2019

Huawei is hitting back at the US by introducing their new OS Hongmeng which is 60 times more faster than Android. Which is set to release in October 2019.
According to Huawei, they had been working on their own Operating System for the last seven years and further said that the operating system is in the final stage of completion.
Google has currently lifted the ban for 90 days, meaning the existing Huawei customers will continue to get updates for the next 90 days, including their Android app and all.
What is Hongmeng’s release date?

The Chief Executive Officer of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei, said that the new Operating System will be available for download from October 2019.

Hongmeng will be able to run Android and iOS apps
This is going to be the biggest set back for Android as the CTO of Huawei confirms that the new OS will be able to run Android apps. And to achieve that cause, they’re in talks with Apptoide which is a standalone alternative for Google play.
But there are some rumors which are suggesting that not just Android but this new OS will be able to run iOS applications too.
Is Hongmeng better than Android?
We’re still unsure as we didn’t get any UI/UX of their new OS so right now it is not the perfect time to comment on it. But after listening to a number of conferences done by Huawei past week, we’re sure that this new Operating System Hongmeng is indeed that can shake the foundations of Android.

But, this is clear that Android will put up a great show to come ahead of this hongmeng. This is surely going to be one hell of a fight between Huawei and Android to get the market leader. If Huawei succeeds in making their new OS better and more reliable than android than the world will see a revolution in the field of technology.

60 times faster compared to what? And is hardware specs taken into account? And is it a bare bones software with no bloat ware etc ?

Why kind the chinks think of a better name - that the rest of the world can embrace - instead of a chingchong name?

You mean names like richard? Robert?

Show creativity lah ...some name that the angmos can easily remember. Xiaomi launches sub brands Redmi and Pocophone ….at least angmos can pronounce and remember.

If Huawei names its OS Trumpet, maybe Trump get flattered.

Android is already fast enough for me, I don't need 60x faster

Again all smoke ... All are future tense. Until I see their OS, else is just speculating only. To replace Android, easier said than done.

Yeah right. Will suck batt power 60 times faster and your phone is 60 times more likely to explode.

Non issue. Now all ang moh can pronounce 'huawei' pretty well. They will learn in a matter of time.

If the phone is 1/2 the price of Samsung and is as good, sure many sinkees will buy. I will buy, definitely.

See? Waway wanted to ditch google all along. Trump was right to strike first.

69 times faster. still as crappy as android. good riddance to both.

MEXICO CITY: An executive of China's Huawei, which has been banned from working with US tech firms, said on Thursday (Jun 13) that the telecoms giant is in the process of potentially launching its Hongmeng operating system (OS) to replace the US Android OS.
Andrew Williamson, vice president of Huawei Technologies' public affairs and communications, said in an interview that the company will "presumably" trademark Hongmeng, which he said has likely been rolled out to a million devices in China.

President Donald Trump's administration last month put Huawei on a blacklist that barred it from doing business with US tech companies such as Alphabet, whose Android OS is used in Huawei's phones.

"Huawei is in the process of potentially launching a replacement," Williamson said in Mexico City.

"It's not something Huawei wants. We're very happy of being part of the Android family, but Hongmeng is being tested, mostly in China. I believe it is already being rolled out over a million devices."
"Presumably we'll be trying to put trademarks," he added.
Williamson said he expected 2019 revenue growth would be almost flat at around 20 per cent, compared with last year's expansion of 19.5 per cent.
Huawei said in March its three main business groups were likely to post double-digit growth this year.

Williamson said that if trade tensions escalate into a full-blown trade war, Hongmeng would be ready to go "in months."

Data from the UN World Intellectual Property Organization shows that Huawei, the world's biggest maker of telecoms network gear, has already applied to trademark Hongmeng in a number of countries.
Williamson said chipmakers knew that cutting off Huawei could have "catastrophic" consequences for their business.
"We're not specifically asking anyone to lobby for us. They're doing it by their own desire because, for many of them, Huawei is one of their major customers," he said.
Huawei has come under mounting scrutiny for over a year, led by US allegations that "back doors" in its routers, switches and other gear could allow China to spy on US communications.
The company has denied its products pose a security threat.

SHANGHAI: Chinese police have detained two men and reprimanded another for spreading online rumours about telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei, state news agency Xinhua reported late on Thursday (Jun 13).
Huawei filed a complaint about rumours being spread online that some of its employees had been detained on charges of spying for the United States, the report said.

The company is currently struggling against tough US sanctions that ban it from doing business with major global tech firms. Its chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou remains under arrest in Canada awaiting extradition to the United States on fraud charges.

Police investigations showed that a resident of Shenzhen, surnamed Wu, invented the story and spread it via WeChat. A resident of Dongguan then "exaggerated" and spread the story further. They have been given 10 and three days of administrative detention, respectively.

A third man, a Beijing resident who forwarded the story to other chatrooms, was reprimanded by police.
Huawei did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
China strictly monitors internet content and employs an army of censors to scrub away information it says will disrupt "social order".

On Wednesday, the government announced the launch of a campaign to clean up its internet aimed at punishing "illegal and criminal actions" by websites.
It has also shut down domestic financial news website Wallstreetcn.com and blocked overseas news providers, such as the Washington Post and the Guardian.

WASHINGTON: Two leading US senators warned President Donald Trump's administration on Thursday (Jun 13) not to use Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei's access to the US market as a negotiating tool in trade talks with Beijing.
Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Mark Warner, both members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, echoed rising concerns Trump could water down an effective ban on Huawei equipment in order to secure a trade pact with China.

The United States has severely limited Huawei's access to the US market and US-made technology over the past two years amid fears that its equipment, especially that for the coming next-generation 5G wireless markets, could offer Chinese intelligence services a back door to US communications.

"Allowing the use of Huawei equipment in US telecommunications infrastructure is harmful to our national security," Rubio and Warner said in a letter to Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
"In no way should Huawei be used as a bargaining chip in trade negotiations."
"Instead, the US should redouble our efforts to present our allies with compelling data on why the long-term network security and maintenance costs on Chinese telecommunications equipment offset any short-term cost savings."

The world's largest telecommunications supplier, Huawei has taken a strong lead in developing 5G network equipment, with a number of countries buying it.
The US intelligence community has sought to persuade key allies to eschew Huawei technology, but has not made public any evidence of how Huawei equipment could be compromised by Chinese intelligence.
On May 23, Trump suggested that Huawei's status could be part of his negotiations with China on resolving a grinding trade battle.
"Huawei is something that is very dangerous," he told reporters.

Nevertheless, he said, "it's possible that Huawei would be included in a trade deal" if an agreement is reached to end the escalating trade conflict.
Last week, China stepped up its counter-offensive, warning major US tech companies that they could be cut off altogether from the Chinese market if they roll back their sales of sensitive products to Chinese companies like Huawei.
