God and Politics

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
- Mark 8:38

America is no longer a Christian nation... that seems to be the top phrase for some politicians today, even with nearly 4 out of every 5 Americans claiming to be a Christian. And of course in Britain, Richard Dawkins helped support a wide-spread advertising campaign on buses, stating there's "probably no God," even though a recent census stated that nearly 70% of Britains claimed to be Christians.

The question we have to ask is, if both Britain and America have such high Christian populations... why are we hearing things like, "America is no longer a Christian nation?" Why, if in America nearly 80% of the population claims to be Christian, did politicians try to remove the national motto, "In God We Trust" from the new visitor center? And why, if nearly 4/5 Americans claim to believe in Christ, is God being pushed out of our schools, our parks, and our government altogether?

I believe one of the problems is the fact that we, as Christians, have become more politically correct than spiritually correct. We have started worrying more about offending others, than sharing God's Word (Matthew 10:37-39). We have worried more about the desires of others, than the desires of God (Luke 16:13). We have, in fact put more importance on our own dignity, than saving our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family from eternal destruction and separation from God (John 3:18-20). A famous atheist once asked the question... how much do you have to hate someone, NOT to tell them about Christ?

Today, we as Christians need to start taking a stand. We need to let our government remember the principles we are based on; one nation under God. And while we do not want to offend others, it is our duty to share the Gospel (Mark 16:15), and to stand up for our Lord Christ Jesus. Because the longer we sit, the longer we stay quiet, the faster we will watch our nation forget the very foundation that made it great.

the mission for Christians is to spread the gospel not creating a Christian Nation
