Government identifies housing sites for quarantined non-residents

National Development Minister Marbok Tan told the press that the government had identified several sites suitable as alternative housing for those quarantined but did not have a residence in Singapore.

The minister spoke to the media at a community event in Tampines earlier today.

For now, those entering Singapore from Mexico will be quarantined for seven days, with effect from Monday.

Immigration officers will ask passengers for their travel history and issue a Home Quarantine Order (HQO) to travellers who have been to Mexico in the past seven days.

Specially-arranged transport will bring them home or to a designated quarantine centre.

Non-residents will stay at the Aloha resort in Loyang in the eastern part of Singapore.

The resort was closed to holiday makers on Friday.

The minister also said that the other identified sites were not needed at this point in time.
