LET men who have fallen on hard times claim maintenance from their ex-wives.

This twist to an ongoing debate on enforcing maintenance orders came from social activist Kanwaljit Soin at a forum on the Women's Charter yesterday.

Citing the example of a man who develops kidney failure and cannot work, she asked whether his high-earning ex-wife should be excused from supporting him, leaving the cost of his care to other family members or even the taxpayer.
