All it takes is 1 guard to stop Mas Selamat's escape

Regional intelligence sources said Mas Selamat, who escaped the maximum security detention centre by climbing out through the toilet window, fled to the northern part of Singapore before swimming across to Johor. (read report here)

Mas Selamat did not have a single cent with him when he escaped. The only way he could do so is by walking 21 kilometers from Whitley Detention Center to Senoko Way in broad daylight where a landing point along the heavy barricaded coast allowed him to plunge into the Straits of Johor.

There was a 4 hour delay before Mas Selamat’s escape was announced to the public. There might be commuters who noticed a limping man along the road and alerted the police if they were informed earlier of terrorist’s escape from detention.

Mas Selamat made a dash for the northern shore of Singapore immediately after leaving Whitley. It is obvious that he is familiar with the coastline of Singapore and the places from where he could make an escape.

It is a shame that the ISD seemed ignorant of Mas Selamat’s favorite haunts in spite keeping him in detention for over two years.

The root of the problem is ISD.Shrouded in secrecy.Had the public were to participate through open hearings in a court.There would be enough of public inputs from which the gahman will benefit.No man is an island by himself.And no gahman can govern by a very few people.However talented.Lack of public participation is root of all these havocs.

After everything very easy to say lor. I dont remember you suggesting this at the beginning. At the beginning also a lot of experts say he escape from the south to indonesia.

So how? Place a mata all along the coast North south east west?

<style></style>Why not?If the entire mata force went hunting square feet by square feet and choked up the causeway for months & months.Why is the difficulty to keep an eye on the straits of johore?...The point is the matas think Mas must escape only by routes thought by themselves.We call this incompetence.

its deja vu or what. We omitted the danger at the north and concentrated all thinking that he might have escaped to Indon when he has taken the most obvious route - swim to Matland.

During WW2, we build and point all guns towards south and none towards Matland, and that's where Japanese came from. Fast forward 60 odd years, we still din learn our lessons and keep looking south when MSK escaped via north.
