EADS, the European aerospace giant and parent company of Airbus, has reported a worldwide disinterest in aircraft purchases.
Aircraft orders in the first half of 2009 dropped to 17.2 billion euros from 51.2 billion euros a year earlier.
It has received only 90 orders so far this year.
In 2008, Airbus delivered a record 483 aircraft, beating main rival Boeing.
EADS said it had expected up to 300 new Airbus orders in 2009 but has since admitted the forecast may have been overblown.
