Mr Lim elaborated: "There are only two persons who pay when it comes to public transport fares. One, I use - I pay. Or two, I use - you help me subsidise my ride. What happens when you subsidise my rides? That means the taxpayers are now paying."

what he says seems logical, not fair for those taxpayer.
But to me as a taxpayer,

1) i rather the money goes back to the people then going into someone's bank account or failure investments.

2) the company is making record profits, so it is just making less, don't understand where is the subsidize part. unless he is saying taxpayers' money is used as subsidy so that the company can maintain record profits. Err... I thought this is a public transport? why the need of record profits at the expense of the people?

3) if any subsidy is from the people, then how come they are always claiming credits and achievement as if they are giving out their money?

Is it the same logic as:
"If there is no retrenchment, I worry for Singapore"?

It is not so simple as Ah Lim claimed,he only told half of the story.
the bus operators in Singapore are all extremly national duty conscious and chiong all the way in the first instance upon hearing some hints of national aka PAP policies.

So all went out of their way to regionalise, globalise,Australise, what have you!You know the profit these beri "smart" bizmen can expect in an international enviroment.

If Ah Lim,is true to himself,he should instruct separate accounting for bus operators so that the profit made in Spore and the expected losses made in oversea market can be transparent.

No this BS about bus operators cannot lose money.Of course they do,in China, they even had many taxis disappeared, info given by their own paper, the 154th.

Looks like it is the usual PAPpy con job. If SBS is making a huge profit, then there is no subsidy involved, and the public is being overcharged, and actually paying for everything. It is as simple as that.
