<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->THE elevated train service that links Changi Airport's three terminals broke down yesterday morning, leaving passengers stranded about 20m above ground.
Some anxious travellers resorted to pounding on the windows of the Skytrain to get the attention of Changi officials, who said the system did not return to normal until after 50 minutes.
Ms Anita Ariffin, who was in one of at least two trains stranded on the track, tried calling emergency crews.
'But it was hard to talk when everyone was shouting and knocking on the windows,' she said.
Airport officials said the Skytrain broke down at 10.55am due to a technical fault.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) could not say how many trains or passengers were affected.
Full service did not resume until about 11.45am.
Ms Anita was travelling with her two young children and her maid. There were about 15 other people in the car, which stalled less than 1m from a platform in Terminal 2.
'Some kept pressing the emergency call button but there was no reply. The kids were prancing about,' said the 37-year-old civil servant.
The family was rescued by technicians after about 15 minutes, but Ms Anita missed seeing off family members who were departing for Indonesia.
'It's such a disappointment,' she said.
A CAAS spokesman said shuttle buses were deployed to transfer people between the three terminals. No departing flight had to be delayed because of the service breakdown, the spokesman added.

Sill want to cover backside saying now depating flight delay............Sure some flight delay about up to 30 min because of the problem. At 20m height that is about 7 storey HDB height many will be worry/scare. Small problem take 50 min to solve, what happen if fire breakup all will burn to dust.
