AETOS police officer jailed for dishonestly taking traveller's pouch
SINGAPORE: An AETOS auxiliary police officer has been sentenced to two weeks' jail for dishonestly taking a traveller's pouch.
Mohamed Yassin Sampol, 57, was also found to possess fraudulently obtained EZ-Link cards, among other things.
On 8 June this year, Ms Tan Peck Poo - a Malaysian - was at the arrival hall at Woodlands Immigration Checkpoint.
She was undergoing checks when her pouch dropped out of her bag.
Mohamed Yassin, who was manning a scanning machine at that time, spotted the pouch and pocketed it.
But he was found out when he used the victim's EZ-Link card to pay for his bus fare when he went home.
The EZ-Link card he used bore a serial number.
On June 25, the police conducted a check on Mohamed Yassin and found that he was also in possession of several items, namely EZ-Link cards, that were fraudulently obtained. - CNA/de
