Easier said than done. The people in Shanghai in 1930s were still partying while the world had a great depression. I guess they didn't figure that there would be a devastating world war followed by a civil war.

In that context, shouldn't the people have partied the way they did?

Assuming they didn't, all they had to look forward to was WW2, then the civil war, then the country turning commie. Not much fun to do is there in the next twenty years to come?

At the rate teenagers are smoking and eating fast food, driving fast cars, they would easily fall to the next major flu pandemic, or die early of lung or colon cancer, and possible diabetics. (See shocking health statistics in USA for teenage binge drinking and rates of Type 2 diabetics)

In this context, perhaps they really should party and live it up. After all, if they are going to die young, might as well go out with a bang.

The truth that they need more $$$ than they can make now. The truth that CPF is not mean for them to use, but for the govenment to lose. The truth that they will not be able to work and play like they did in the past. The truth that they will have children and aging parents to care for. The truth that reservist is a waste of their time. The truth that if they want to get out of singapore, they need to do so at a earlier time.

and the biggest truth is that they will be old someday and the govenment will ship them in sadine cans else where where cost of living is cheaper!

I agree with what you say. That's why I plan to only buy foreign property and retire there....
