Adobe has fixed a series of security vulnerabilities in Flash Player

The company said in an advisory Tuesday that the updates will address security flaws that "could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system."

The patches aim to fix flaws that could lead to code execution -- in other words, allowing an attacker to run malicious code.

Users running Flash Player on Windows and OS X are advised to update to version 18.0.0.232, while Linux users should update to version 11.2.202.508.

Flash, which comes included with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and later, and Edge on Windows 10, will automatically update to the patched version.

Adobe acknowledged security researchers from Fortinet, Google's Project Zero, Alibaba, and others.
