Actress Zarina Anjoulie claims trial to possessing drugs

PETALING JAYA: Local model and actress Zarina Anjoulie Mohamad Fahizul pleaded not guilty on Wednesday at the Magistrate's Court here on charges of possessing two pills suspected of being dangerous drugs three days ago.
Zarina, 26, who is also a college student, pleaded not guilty to possessing the drugs, suspected of being Erimin 5 pills weighing 0.6g, at a residence in Damansara Damai here at about 5.30pm on Dec 30 last year.
Also being charged was college student Mohamad Fakhruzaim Mohamad Fawzi, 27, who is suspected of committing the offence with Zarina at the same time and place.
The two have been charged under section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which upon conviction, carries a penalty of up to five years imprisonment, a fine, or both.
DPP Wan Mohd Bukhari Wan Mohd offered bail of RM6,000 with one surety for each offender.
Lawyer Mohd Haijan Omar, who represented the pair, asked for a lower bail to be imposed, saying his clients were still studying.
Magistrate Nazri Omran allowed bail of RM2,000 each with one surety and fixed Feb 8 for next mention date.
Zarina has acted in television dramas such as Anak Pontianak', as well as films such as Ular' and Khon Malay'.
