Teen accused of molest faces more charges of criminal force

A teen accused of molesting a woman in a lift was charged on Monday with three counts of using criminal force on young women.

Sebastian Lye Chee Weng, 18, was hauled to court a week ago for squeezing the breasts of a 20-year-old in a lift at a block of flats in Pending Road, Bukit Panjang on May 19.

The fresh charges accuse him of offences against women aged 17 to 21 on May 15 and 30. On May 15, he allegedly covered the mouth of a 20-year-old at the void deck at Cashew Road at about 11.20pm.

About half an hour later, he allegedly wrapped his hand around the neck of a 21-year-old woman in a lift at Pending Road. On May 30, he allegedly grabbed a 17-year-old's shoulder and head in a lift at Petir Road.

18 year-old Lai Zhi Wei has been dubbed the ‘Wolf of Bukit Panjang.’

He is alleged to have molested one lady and attacked three others in 15 days.

He allegedly groped the breast of a 20 year-old lady and attacked three other girls from 15 to 30 May at the void deck of HDB flats in the Bukit Panjang area.

Lai was slapped with four charges in court.

He had also allegedly tried to choke a 21-year-old woman with both his hands.

The prosecutor asked for Lai to be sent to the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for psychiatric assessment and the judge approved. Lai’s hearing will resume on 25 June.

The four blocks where the incidents are said to have occurred are quiet most of the time.

Residents in the area said they were not aware of the incidents but hoped that the police can increase their patrols in the area.
