A mechanic who came out of his car to change a punctured tyre along the New Pantai Expressway in the Klang Valley was hit by a car and died at the spot in front of his shocked wife. Tan Jong Jin, 44, was changing the tyre of his Proton Iswara just after paying toll at about 5.45am on Sunday, Kosmo! and Utusasn Malaysia reported.
Tan had chosen a lighted spot along the stretch to attend to the puncture while his wife stayed in the car. Petaling Jaya traffic investigation officer Insp Mohd Firdaus Razak said a silver-coloured Perodua MyVi crashed into him from behind throwing the victim 20m. Police are waiting for a report to be lodged by the MyVi driver, who fled the scene after the incident.
