The distribution event was held in conjunction with the People’s Action Party’s Community Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration in Aljunied GRC. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Lim Hwee Hua, and NTUC Assistant Secretary—General, Ong Ye Kung, were present to help give away the hampers. Each family received a hamper that included items such as canned foods, basic sauces and rice. It is the first time that the accounting firm is working together with grassroots organisations to give back to the community. Mrs Lim and Mr Ong are both potential candidates in the area. While speaking to reporters, Mrs Lim touched on the topic of children’s education as one of the issues Aljunied residents are concerned about. She said: "there is a great emphasis placed on the education of the children. Every parent’s dream is for the child to progress as far as he or she can make it, and we want to play a part in that important aspiration." — CNA/ms
