ACCA appoints new country chief
05:55 AM Feb 08, 2010
SINGAPORE - The newly-appointed country head of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Mr Darryl Wee (picture), said his priority is to focus on establishing strong working relationships with employers and strategic partners.
Mr Wee believes that by actively working with employers, ACCA will better understand the changing demands of the marketplace and this will ensure that ACCA's members remain well-equipped with the skills and profiles that will be sought after by industry players.
"Working with strategic partners is also important," Mr Wee told MediaCorp.
To underscore the importance of working with these two groups, Mr Wee had steered ACCA towards the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) and another memorandum of understanding with the HomeTeamNS last week.
With ASME, the tie-up is to assist SME's by ensuring that they receive sufficient attention and resources to tide them over difficult times and prepare them for opportunities that arise during the turnaround.
Prior to joining the ACCA, Mr Wee was chief commercial officer of Nestronics Singapore.
He also spent seven years at Agilent Technologies where he implemented specific marketing, business strategies and managed human resource issues.
Mr Wee holds a Masters of Business Administration from Rutgers University and a Master of Science from South Bank University.
He takes over from Ms Penelope Phoon who left ACCA to pursue personal interests. Ephraim Seow
