When it comes to Indian tanks, many people have the first impression that they have the "Arjun" main battle tank called the "White Elephant". This kind of Indian domestic tank with the German Leopard 2 tank as a totem faces many problems since its birth. Large and useless is its notable feature.
Recalling the history of the development of tanks in India, there have been two forms of buying, buying, and manufacturing. Recalling the history of the development of tanks in India, there have been two forms of buying, buying, and manufacturing.

After World War II, India first purchased the Sherman medium-sized tank with 76 mm artillery from the United States, which played an important role in the first India-Pakistan conflict. Later, it introduced the "centurion" main battle tank to the British sovereign, and the 105-mm rifled gun made the Indians regain their confidence. So based on the "centurs" tank, based on the development of the first kind of domestic tanks, named "victory"!

In all fairness, the "Victory" main battle tank was a very good type of tank at the time, and it had a rolling advantage over the Pakistani Sherman tank and the AMX-13 light tank.

However, Pakistan quickly acquired a Type 59 medium tank from China. The 100 mm line of Chinese tanks has a very strong penetration and the armor of the “Victory” tank is difficult to resist. India then urgently turned to the Soviet Union to get a T-55 tank that was in line with the Type 59 tank and replaced it with an English-style 105-mm tank gun.

In order to further open up the quality gap with the Pakistani tanks, India introduced the T-72M1 main battle tank from the Soviet Union and the 125-mm tank gun became the most powerful tank weapon in the subcontinent of South Asia. Unfortunately, it was not long before Pakistan quickly introduced the 85-IIAP main battle tank and the Khalid main battle tank from China, and bought the T-84 main battle tank from Ukraine. The quality advantage of Indian tanks did not last long.

At this time, the ambitious Indian wants to recreate the glory of the "Victory" tank and begin to drum up its own new type of tank. This is the famous "Arjun" tank. This kind of so-called domestic tank, in fact, the combination of all parts of the country, of course, is not satisfied, has been engaged in 30 years has not been properly handled.

In the process, India also used the turret of the “Arjun” tank and the chassis of the T-72 tank to engage in an EX main battle tank. Of course, this was when the military parade came out to see it. There was no practical value.

In the end, the Indian Army was unable to tolerate the problems of the "Arjune" tank. In an anger, it bought a T-90S main battle tank from Russia. This rescued the tanks in Pakistan and basically formed a balance of power. For T-90S tanks, India is still satisfied, so buy and buy again and again. During the exercise, the wonderful Indians also welded a sofa behind the T-90S tank turret, allowing heads of all departments to take a ride in the tanks and take the good tanks out of the elephant!

In addition, for its own "Arjun" tank, India is still very reconciled, and clamored out of the so-called "Arjun" MK2 main battle tank, of course, that is, the military parade to show their faces, want to become the main force that is wishful thinking ah! (Author's signature: Rainbow Photo Kursk)

Roti Prata army also refused to accept the Curry Pot tanks! They knew if go war they will die inside!

Little Info on DRDO Tank EX:

The Tank Ex MBT uses the chassis of the T-72M1 (Ajeya) and turret and weapon system of the Arjun. It was developed in 2002 as a private venture and was intended to provide a solution for upgrading the Indian Army's ageing T-72M1 fleet.

TANK EX proposal wasn’t shot down or rejected by anyone on performance grounds. In fact, TANK EX was a proposal by the DRDO to upgrade the projected second tranche of 700 T-72M1982 medium battle tanks under Project Rhino-2, which never took off because

1) the NDA govt of the time had made the importation of T-90S medium battle tanks as the topmost priority since 1998.

2) the Arjun Mk1’s turret & its fire-control system & gun-control system had not yet attained maturity in terms of design & performance criteria back in 2002 which isn’t the case in 2017.

3) Russia has serious implications against these modifications.

Had these Modification took place India would have a

1.)Completely Indigenous Light Battle tank of a new generation.

2)Stable spare supply chain for both Arjun and T 72 at the same time.

3) A bigger tank regiment of Light tanks on the Chinese Front.
