That's a lie.
It is not that Singaporeans are choosy. It's just that the pay is too low for Singaporeans to work in these jobs and live in SG.
Take the example of airline stewardesses. Why are pretty and well educated gals lining up for such jobs which are almost like a waitress. It's because the pay is good and it's glamourous.
So the issue with singaporeans not taking up certain jobs is because the pay is too low and the job not glamourous. What the pap needs to do is to pay the right amount for a job to be attractive.
It's all abt supply and demand. Importing cheap labour to artificially suppress the real wage that needs to be paid will result in social problems. It gives only temporary monetary reprieve to businesses. Cheap foreign labour is a short term solution. The fact remains that many singaporeans will not be able to find gainful employment to survive in high cost Singapore
Labour and people from third world countries can bring along anti social behaviours and values that are detrimental to SG's values and culture. Does Singapore want to trade temporary gains for permanent damages?
As usual the govt tells half truths and lies.
Let us be clear and know what is the real problem and not blindly believe what the govt say. Some of them are half truths. Some of what the govt say are outright lies
