Jail, caning for sex with boy

On Monday, the tutor, who cannot be not named to protect the identity of the boy, was sentenced to six year's jail and six strokes of the cane.

THE boy was nine when he started talking about sex with his tutor.
During a tuition session in his bedroom, the boy told the 36-year-old man that he was curious about men's genitals.
Two months later, when his tutor went to the toilet, the boy followed, pushing the door open to enter the toilet. He initiated sex with the man, who then allowed the boy to perform oral sex on him. This was repeated four more times over the next three months.
On Monday, the tutor, who cannot be not named to protect the identity of the boy, was sentenced to six year's jail and six strokes of the cane.
However, in sentencing, High Court judge Kan Ting Chiu said this case was different from the typical sex abuse case in which the adult offender is the one who initiates the sex act. 'One peculiar fact is that the boy is the initiator,' said the judge.
Justice Kan sentenced him to three years' jail and three strokes of the cane on each of the two charges he had pleaded guilty to, with the two terms to run consecutively.
