SINGAPORE - Eighty-eight drug offenders were arrested and drugs worth more than $310,000 seized in two separate island-wide operations by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
Supported by fellow Home Team agencies, the drug bust hauled in 2.71kg of heroin, 180g of 'Ice', 12g of Ketamine, 313 "Erimin-5" tablets and 51 "Ecstasy" tablets.
From the first operation on Nov 26 to the early hours of Nov 27, police officers staked out areas such as Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong and Woodlands.
They arrested 12 drug offenders and seized a small amount of heroin and 'Ice'.
Investigations are on-going.
In another operation on Nov 28, officers stationed at Woodlands Checkpoint stopped a Malaysian duo travelling on a Malaysia-registered motorcycle for a routine inspection.
With the help of Immigration Checkpoint Authority (ICA) officers, they found 11 packets of a granular substance and two bundles of a crystalline substance in their possession.
The granular substance, believed to be heroin, weighed around 2.7kg. The amount seized is the second largest for this year. The crystalline substance, weighing around 66g, is believed to be 'Ice'.
The 33-year-old female and 32-year-old male were subsequently detained and are being investigated for drug trafficking.
If convicted, they may face the death penalty.
