SINGAPORE - The elderly man who was standing on a ledge between levels 16 and 17 at a block in Casa Clementi has been arrested for attempted suicide.
On June 18, he was seen being held on to by a police officer at the ledge while waiting for Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel to arrive. The latter came 15 minutes later and the elderly man was eventually pulled over to safety.
According to a report in The New Paper, the man's next door neighbour, Mr Liew, went to the rescue after he saw the 70-year-old about to jump off a ledge.
He recalled the incident at Block 420, Clementi Avenue 1: "My hands were weak and numb. I felt so exhausted but because I already knew about it, I could not let him die."
