7-Eleven gang busted
PETALING JAYA: Police have busted a gang specialising in robbing 7-Eleven outlets with the arrest of its members last Saturday. Three were arrested in Kampung Subang at 1pm, while the remaining two members were picked up two hours later at a house in Desa Mentari.
Police also arrested a 55-year-old foreigner, who bought stolen items from the gang. Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said police seized 274 packs of cigarettes, 38 packets of dry cell batteries and shavers worth about RM4,000.
“We believe the gang was also involved in snatch thefts,” he said yesterday. Police also recovered identity cards believed belonging to snatch theft victims. With the arrests, police believe they have solved about 15 cases in the district.
All five suspects aged between 19 and 37 years tested positive for methamphetamine, while four of them had criminal records for carjacking and robbery.
All of them have been remanded until today.
