SINGAPORE: Singapore's anti-drug agency, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) continues to intensify enforcement efforts with another island-wide operation.
It arrested 69 offenders and seized half a kilogram of heroin with a street of S$75,000.
The Bureau said the operations, which aim to suppress street-level illicit drug activity, are targeted primarily at drug abusers and pushers.
Separately, officers also arrested a 45-year-old Singaporean on Wednesday suspected to be a major drug trafficker in the eastern part of Singapore.
Officers had tailed a taxi he was in and found a black sling bag containing some 457 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth S$68,550.
A follow-up search of his home in Tampines uncovered drug paraphernalia such as digital weighing scales, empty plastic packets and improvised smoking apparatus.
The 60-year old driver of the taxi was also arrested.
Both men are being investigated for drug trafficking and may face the death penalty, if convicted.
