Recent Hong Lim MT saga reminds us languages are no toys to play with.
With so many new immigrants from China, Mandarin is no more like you want to play masa, you play, you donch like, you throw it away. Cannot any more oredi becos the China newcomers are more courageous people unlike the meek locals. And they are getting ore and more.......
These new comers dare to strike and dare to protest. If their number become bigger than local working force you will see what I mean---donch play play.
This is only the beginning, what about other nationalities from the world ? These new comers will also one day demand for their language to be official also----donch laugh, it will come !
Languages can be sensitive issue and it can spark riots also---so donch play play.
You want power, you want votes, yes these newcomers will vote for you but they are not stupid also---most of these people are from countries that can take to the streets and are smarter and braver. They know their rights.
Local people know nothing except town upgrading and have no common culture and easily bullied and conned. And they vote for this to happen.
Look at the thais , Taiwanese, honkees----they are one when come to languages, they know all about it.
Look at Taiwanese mountain tribes---they speak hokkien, speak mandarin and their dialect. Taiwan got no language problem at all.
PAP want power, but there are consequences to bear…..and it can be dangerous .
Sinkapore got 4 official languages, but so many types of people here, you think they like mandarin, tamil …?
Road ahead in Sinkapore is treacherous.
You may mean more FTs can make sinkapore vibrant, but underneath the veneer---More FTs mean more problems will come, just wait and see.
The side effects of unbridled immigration will haunt PAP and its supporters every now and then.....say again....this is only the beginning.....no such thing as have the cake and eat all...........the price to eat the cake is high....very high.
Meantime…local stupid lot still wait for NDP, YOG, and buy toto to dream to get rich…..
Those want a good and sincere govt have to wait in patience....you may lose the whole sinkapore,....but please have faith in your god and deities.It is a sad story but you have to watch to the end.
