50-year-old man arrested for obscene act

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 50-year-old man believed to be responsible for committing an obscene act in public in the vicinity of Woodlands Drive 16.
On May 2, 2013 at about 7 am, police were alerted to a case of an unknown man who had earlier committed an obscene act in the vicinity of Woodlands Drive 16 when three female victims passed walked him.
The victims later reported the incident to their school. Based on the victims' description, the man was later detained in the vicinity of Woodlands Drive 16 by the school staff, Mr Leow Lip Huat, Pius.
Officers from Woodlands East Neighbourhood Police Centre responded to the case and placed the 50-year-old man under arrest.
If found guilty, he may face an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 months, or with fine, or with both.
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim, said that the arrest represented yet another example of the strong partnership between the community and the Singapore Police Force in fighting crime together. He also commended the member of the public for his public-spiritedness which led to the arrest of the suspect. He added that when members of the public encounter such persons, they should remain calm and take note of the appearance of the perpetrators, and report to the police as soon as possible.
