50-year-old Aussie found dead in hotel room
PETALING JAYA: A cleaner at a four-star hotel here had a shock when she found the body of a man in one of the rooms. The man, a 50-year-old Australian national, was found lying on the bed at about 1pm yesterday. Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said initial investigations showed that the man was to have checked out of the hotel the night before.
“When he did not do so, the hotel staff let themselves in for routine check up and cleaning,” he told a press conference yesterday. He said the man had been staying at the hotel since Thursday. ACP Arjunaidi said there were no signs of foul play, adding that no injuries could be seen on the deceased’s body.
The case has been classified as sudden death. “There were no signs of a break-in but we are trying to determine if anything in the room is missing,” he said. The body has been sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
