50 people protest against Namewee
KUALA LUMPUR: -About 50 people, including members of Perkasa, turned up at the Chinese Assembly Hall in Jalan Maharajalela here to stage a protest against controversial rapper Wee Meng Chee or better known as Namewee.
The group were seen gathering at the vicinity of the hall at 8.45pm yesterday, carrying Perkasa banners and Namewee’s pictures that were later set on fire, while some hurled abusive words against the rapper who was launching his album in the hall.
About 100 policemen, including the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) from Dang Wangi arrived to ensure peace and safety at 8pm. Wira Perkasa Malaysia head Arman Azha Abu Hanifah who headed the gathering was seen trying to make his way into the hall by negotiating with the police but he was prevented from entering.
The group later wanted the police to call Namewee out of the hall but police did not heed their request. Arman Azhar later told reporters that the gathering was to protest against Namewee who he claimed had disgraced the nation. — Bernama
