<!-- story content : start -->A total of 98 Honorary ADCs and one full-time ADC to the President were appointed. Currently, there are three full-time ADCs serving the President's office. They attend to the general administration, security and social needs of the President, and accompany him at state functions and gatherings. <!-- story content : start -->Honorary ADCs assist full-time ADCs. They help in areas such as receiving guests and serve as liaison officers for VIPs or as a master of ceremonies at official events, to ensure functions run smoothly.

President SR Nathan to visit Japan

SINGAPORE: President SR Nathan will make an eight-day state visit to Japan from Saturday.

This will be the first state visit by a Singapore president to Japan.

A Singapore Foreign Ministry statement says in Japan, President Nathan will be meeting Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, as well as senior Japanese leaders including Prime Minister Taro Aso, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yohei Kono and President of the House of Councillors Satsuki Eda.

President Nathan will also receive an honorary degree from Keio University. He will be visiting Kyoto and Hiroshima.

President Nathan will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Senior Minister of State for Education Grace Fu, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli, Members of Parliament Seah Kian Peng and Charles Chong, as well as senior officials.
