JAKARTA: A 5.8-magnitude earthquake shook an area between Indonesia and the Philippines early Monday, geologists said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The US Geological Survey said the epicentre was about 310 kilometres south-southeast of General Santos in the southern Philippines.
The quake, which struck at 1:45 am on Monday (1745 GMT Sunday) was located around 38 kilometres below sea level.
No tsunami warning was immediately issued. - AFP/de
